Women on Boards - Social Media Manager

Could you help grow our social media presence? 

We want to encourage even more women into the boardroom - and need your help to reach out to them. With our small, friendly team our Social Media Manager will be responsible for developing our Twitter and LinkedIn channels, plus potentially looking at other social media platforms we could develop.

You’ll know all (or lots of!) the tips and tricks to optimise our channels, be able to absorb our brand voice and engage with professionals at all levels, including the most senior leaders. An understanding of the boardroom and governance is a bonus - but creating warm, engaging yet professional posts is a must.

Women on Boards is purpose-led business offering advice, information and encouragement to support women to develop non-executive careers. We are committed to diversity, flexible working and are currently 100% remote.

We anticipate needing 10-15 hours per week and think this role would be ideal for a freelancer/contractor.

What we need 


We need a Social Media Manager who understands what make social media communities grow and come alive. You'll be supported by our team and guided by our overall marketing strategy, but will need to be able to work independently and innovate. 

Overall, our aim is to expand our social media reach to inspire more people to become members of the Women on Boards network. Key deliverables and outcome targets will be agreed with the successful candidate, but broadly the role will involve:

  • Maintaining our social media channels (currently Twitter and LinkedIn)

Produce regular updates to our social media channels to cover our core messages, our impact, upcoming events, products and services;
Share our own content (articles, podcasts) and relevant curated media content and/or our partner's content;
Review our account analytics, make recommendations and implement improvements accordingly.


  • Increasing engagement

Responding and reacting to in-bound engagement;
Engage our partners, speakers and members on social media;
Build outreach to engage appropriately with relevant accounts or groups.


  • Producing social content

Produce eye-catching social media imagery to promote our content and our services (using Canva or similar);
Write engaging copy that inspires action;
Produce, edit and caption basic video content (current editing platform WeVideo).

  • Manage sponsored/paid content

Develop content for time-limited campaigns (sponsored and organic) with agreed goals, as part of our wider marketing strategy;
Set up and optimise sponsored content.

Employment Type

This position is ideal for a freelancer or contractor. We expect it to be between 10 – 15 hours a week (dependant on the right candidate's availability). We are open to the possibility to work as employee or contractor/ freelancer dependant on the candidate’s own working arrangement.
