Women on Boards impact in 2021
As a purpose-led business, our key metric is how many members we support into the boardroom.
We are delighted this has increased from an average of 7 a week in 2020, to 8 members gaining a new non-executive role each week (on average) in 2021.

The number on board roles shared via our Vacancy Board has also increased. We advertised 200 board roles a month this year, in all sectors - or 2,600 overall. 30% of these were remunerated positions. We know the majority of board roles are still recruited though networks, but we estimate over 30% of our members who gained board roles saw the positions advertised with Women on Boards. More about finding a role with us.
We support our members every step of the way, in the way that suits them best.
We gave over 350 members 1-on-1 support this year, either a personal review of their Board CV or a pre-interview connection to ensure they had the best chance of success.
We believe this unique service is our 'secret sauce' that makes our network so impactful.
As WOB NexGen, our corporate brand, we work with 35 Corporate Partners, supporting their diverse talent to consciously manage their careers and realise their leadership potential. We consciously include people of all genders, including but not exclusively those from under-represented groups, to develop as inclusive leaders of the next generation.
Our Corporate Partners are leading firms in professional services, tech, higher education and more who are committed to diversifying their talent pipeline.
We ran almost 100 workshops with in-house for our Corporate Partners in 2021, reaching over 3,000 diverse professionals.
We don't tell people what their career should look like, but equip talented professionals with research-based information on how to progress - combined with the lived experience of the female leaders who deliver the sessions.
Finally, we are an outspoken voice for change across the governance landscape in the UK.
Our Hidden Truth research exposed how less than half FTSE All-Share ex350 companies are yet to meet the target for 33% female board members... and much more.
This received widespread attention, with over 50 press articles and a readership of 4million.
Our voice on social media is growing. We increased our followers by 5,500 across our three platforms which has extended our reach to 2.7million.
We now have highly engaged followings on LinkedIn, Twitter and Instagram. This ensures we reach a range of people who are both established board members and those who may not yet be considering non-executive work.
Thank you to all our members and supporters who play a key role in making this happen. We know our members generously offer a huge amount of mutual support to each other informally - thank you to all who have supported another woman in her board careeer this year.
