Women get stuck on their journey, but they are not broken

At Becoming, we help women to lead unapologetic lives.  We know that women are not different, but that different things can happen to them.  And that, as a result, women can feel stuck or knocked off track. We partner with Miles Advisory, a leading search and human capital firm that is actively working to increase the number of women in senior leadership positions.  Miles Advisory knows that women leaders bring with them an increase in diversity of thinking, innovation, collaboration and empathy.  And we are proud to stand together to provide organisations with a unique development approach capable of moving this dial effectively and at pace.

The Becoming Journey is about helping you to get "unstuck", helping you to rediscover the leader that you are within, to uncover your guiding purpose and lay claim to the impact that you want to have on the world.

The Becoming Journey is different to any other leadership program that you will do.  We won’t tell you what kind of leader you should be, or what you need to do to get ahead.  Instead, we will walk alongside you, sharing tools and techniques that will help you to become the leader that you are within.

And we know that the Becoming Journey makes a difference:

  • 80% of participants feel committed to take action to face their personal challenges at work
  • 80% of participants are likely to apply for a promotion or take on additional responsibilities in the next 3 years
  • 30% increase in the number of participants saying that they are operating at full potential for their organisation
The Becoming Journey is a virtual learning program, for small groups of up to 12 women.  You will complete 8 modules over 3 months, supported by an online learning platform and 3 “circles” where you will work with your peers on issues close to your heart.  On completing the Journey you will join the Becoming Community, a network of women who have completed the Journey and continue to collaborate and learn from each other.

“I believe that the Becoming Journey has impacted me consciously and sub-consciously, and has really sown seeds for life.
It has been the most self-reflective learning journey I’ve undertaken”
Tracy Williamson, Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office

“Come to the Journey with an open mind and a willingness to give things a go and you will reap huge rewards.
It's not your average “corporate training course” at all, so don’t expect the usual management speak or exercises.
This is an incredibly personal process, but also a very practical one.
The lessons I have learnt will serve me well, not only in the workplace but in life more generally.”
Madeleine Milne, Women on Boards UK

What WILL YOU LEARN?

The Becoming Journey will help you to uncover the leader that you are within.  It will challenge you to drop the struggle with the thoughts and feelings that hold you back, to uncover the shadow parts of yourself that you keep hidden, and to find your true voice and stand firm and tall, believing in yourself.  It will help you to develop a compass to follow your values and purpose, and empower you to make ripples of impact on the world around you.

The Journey is designed based on three major approaches or foundations:

Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT): A well-evidenced and growing form of clinical therapy, which builds your psychological flexibility to better know and accept yourself, to focus on your values and purpose and to move to committed action.

Vertical Leadership Development: Vertical leadership development emphasises the importance of developing the interconnectivity and complexity of how you think as a leader, not just what you know or do.

Hero’s / Heroine’s Journey: The archetypal process of change, the metaphor of a journey enables us to focus on “walking alongside” you, rather than “teaching” or “telling” you how to be.

The Becoming Journey was different to any course I'd attended before - rather than learning new information or trying to improve one's knowledge or skills, it guided us to look within ourselves and appreciate, accept and enhance our own thoughts, feelings and characteristics.” “
Carolyn Thornley-Yates, Hinckley & Rugby Building Society

“Becoming is a must for all women who want to be the best version of themselves. I found the programme hugely enriching and am now even more purposeful about life and my career. At Miles Advisory, our business model is based on the belief that we can all BeMore – both in our work and as individuals - which aligns perfectly with the Becoming programme”
Deborah Cooper. Partner, Board Practice and WoB Ambassador
