Do you feel daunted by accounts and audit? Are you in the dark about what to expect from a typical board pack? In this mini-Masterclass  we will share with you a selection of some real board papers to build your confidence in understanding a board pack.

Women on Boards operates on the policy that there is no such thing as a stupid question only a stupid answer and therefore feel free to ask any questions you like.  If you attend this event it is our intention to leave you better equipped to hold your own as a non-executive director or trustee.

Board papers are one of the first things you will need to get your head around as a new non-executive. Our mini-Masterclass will give you a head start as a first-time or prospective board member. It will share the trustee, executive and auditor’s perspective on the various elements of paperwork you will need to understand to contribute effectively at board meetings.

During the evening the group will be shown a selection of Fight for Sight’s typical board papers. Fight for Sight is a grant giving eye research charity (medical). This mini-masterclass is suitable for those who are considering, or undertaking, their first board role and or those who are on a charity board already but feel they need more guidance when looking at charity accounts and board packs.
This mini-masterclass will also be highly relevant to anyone who is new to the boardroom in another sector.

 This event is limited to just 12 participants, our presenters will cover:

  • Gail Emerson, Women on Boards and experienced charity Chair of Trustees will talk you through reading the board pack as a trustee;
  • Joanna Pittman, Fight for Sight’s auditor at Sayer Vincent, will walk you through the audit process and purpose of the Auditor’s Report, as well as how to read charity accounts.
Topics covered will include:
  • Understanding the board agenda and minutes
  • Receiving the auditors report
  • Reviewing and approving the accounts
  • Reviewing key board papers

Tea and biscuits will be provided.

Masterclass starts promptly at 5.00pm and ends at 7pm.
