Safeguarding the Crown Jewels
Protecting and optimising your IP is becoming an increasingly significant issue and focus for companies and therefore boards around the globe. Not just for companies with physical products but also for services companies - small companies and large. Does your board have a strategy for protecting your IP and also for building on it?
Join us for a Directors' Circle dinner where our speaker for the evening, leading IP lawyer and China expert, Luke Minford from Rouse will give his insight into developments and issues to look out for in this area.
Luke Minford is Chief Executive of Rouse, a London based intellectual property (IP) firm with thirteen offices in the key growth regions of Asia, the Middle East and Africa.
Luke was appointed Chief Executive of Rouse as of 1 May 2013, having previously served as head of their UK practice. Before moving to the UK, he spent 14 years working in China, the last six as head of the Rouse China practice.
Aside from his role as Chief Executive of the firm, Luke continues to advise many of the world’s leading brand and technology owning companies on IP strategy and implementation. He is also regarded as an expert on China having lived, worked and studied there for over twenty five years. Luke works alongside C-suite teams advising at the intersection between IP and business strategy, as well as supporting senior management with project implementation, particularly in emerging markets. His experience includes aligning IP portfolios to business objectives; setting up IP management systems; establishing and organising internal IP departments; establishing and managing coalitions of rights holders; advising and assisting in set up of comprehensive licensing programmes; and advising on a number of IP and non-IP related commercial issues in relation to foreign investment in China.
Directors Circles have been designed for those of you who are already serving on one or more boards and aims to tackle some common themes and topics you might be having to deal with. They are informal and intimate dinner events, limited to 25, which will allow a freeflow of discussion, sharing of ideas and of course networking. Each evening will have a guest speaker to introduce the topic and be there to answer any questions you may have.
Pre-requisites: You must be serving on at least one Board to join this event.
