FTSE NED Breakfast 6th November 2019

This series of events is designed for FTSE NEDs and women who are working, or have worked at Senior Executive level in FTSE or FTSE-equivalent organisations.

We are delighted that a number of leading head hunters, including Spencer Stuart, Norman Broadbent, Russell Reynolds, Warren Partners, Korn Ferry, Odgers Berndtson, Miles Partnership, MWM Consulting, Sapphire Partners, Heidrick and Struggles, EquityChair, Berwick Partners, and First Flight  have offered to support and attend these events in the past.

These breakfast boardroom conversations are a great way for you to listen to stories of top NEDs, understand the issues they have faced and to make high level connections with other senior women and top level Head Hunters and Consultants who work in the NED space. To get a feel for these events click on one of these two links to see the top tips from two of our previous NED speakers, Jan Babiak and Paul Drechsler CBE

Our Speaker on this occasion is Alice Avis, NED and Experienced CEO and Chair of a range of boards.

Alice is a portfolio NED who has an impressive career as a CEO, Chair and NED having been on the board of a range of different companies. Alice’s experience includes stints as Director of Marketing and e-Commerce at Marks and Spencer, and as Global Brand Director at Johnnie Walker. In 2009 she was awarded an MBE for services to the beauty industry.
During her time as Chief Executive and Chair at The Sanctuary Spa, Alice oversaw a trebling of the business’s value and its sale to PZ Cussons. Most recently she served as Executive Chairman for Lumene Oy, a Finnish skincare and cosmetics company. She is currently a Non-Executive Director at The Edrington Group, a privately-owned international spirits company, and Cyden Limited, a British beauty and health company, as well as serving as an advisor to the National Trust. In April 2016 Alice joined the board of BGF, which is an active investor in the start-up entrepreneurial space in the UK, and in March of 2019, she joined the board of Empiric Student Property Plc, a company which provides premium student accommodation in the UK.

We are delighted that the Headhunter for the breakfast is Deborah Cooper, Partner and Head of Board Services at Miles Advisory.

Deborah is a Partner and Head of the Board Services at Miles Advisory. She also heads up NED recruitment for Financial Services Practices. Deborah has strong relationships with clients, candidates, regulators and other key stakeholders which is critical in highly dynamic environments and markets undergoing major change. She advises Boards in the recruitment of Non-Executives (including Chairman and Chairs of Risk and Audit) and is experienced in appointing CEOs, MDs and C-Suite executives across a variety of functional leadership roles.

Previously, Deborah worked with international search firms Heidrick and Struggles, Norman Broadbent, The Miles Partnership and Warren Partners.
