Are you thinking of applying for a private company board role?  The private sector is vast and can offer a variety of different opportunities in terms of industry and size of organisation. From small start ups, privately owned companies through to some of the largest listed companies across the globe the private sector is a significant contributor to the national economy.   

Come along to broaden your understanding of the range of opportunities on these company boards, understand how your skills and experience are transferable and to meet other board members, both current and future. Networking is key to building your non executive profile in these markets so come along and listen to some useful advice on how to network effectively.   

The purpose of this event is to introduce you to the different types of board opportunities across these markets and to hear from a panel of board directors with a wealth of experience, who will share their individual journeys to the boardroom.  As well as picking up insights and ideas, this will be a great opportunity to broaden your networks and to learn how to network and to understand your own personal boardroom.


Speakers 

Suzanne Avery  

Co-Founder of Real Estate Balance and NED with LondonMetric Property Plc

Suzanne has a breadth of senior experience at MD level within FTSE 100 banks, specialising in real estate, finance, house building and sustainability, complemented by non-executive and advisory roles.  She is recognised for building strong relationships, driving strategy and providing financial and risk management expertise.  Suzanne is currently a non executive director at LondonMetric Property Plc, she is a board member and chair of the group investment committee at RHP Group, a senior advisor at Centrus Advisors and on the main board of the Church Commissioners.

 

Fiona McAnena 
Partner at Clearhound and NED at Norman Broadbent Group

Fiona is a partner at Clearhound, the market planning consultancy having built up an impressive career over 35 years with names such as Unilver, PepsiCo, and WPP. Fiona took her first non executve role in 1997 with the Environment Council and has since sat on a wide variety of boards. Fiona is currently a non executive director with Norman Broadbent Group and CityWest Homes and is a senior independent director with British Rowing

 


Julie Currie 
Non-executive Director Scotiabank Europe plc

Julie is a non executive director and audit & risk committee chair with current and past appointments in government, banking, investment and social sectors. She currently sits on the board at Scotiabank Europe plc and on the board of the  Department for International Trade.  Julie has previously been a non executive with Social Investment Business, Fortem Cares and Social and Sustainable Capital. Prior to this she spent 20 plus years in the UK financial services sector which included a long stint with Lloyds Banking Group culminating in the position of chief financial and operating officer for Lloyds Bank Foundation.
