National Sporting Organisations

The bodies recognised by Sport Australia as the pre-eminent body for the development of their sport in Australia. They are funded by the Australian Sports Commission. 

2020

In 2020 the WOB BGDI reviewed the 62 NSOs funded in 2020-21 to the total of $123,909,700. There has been an increase of 7.3% in the number of women on the boards of NSOs so the sector is now at 41.7%. There are some underperformers yet to reach 30%: Lacrosse, Taekwondo, Boxing, Ice racing /skiing /snowboarding, Tenpin Bowling, Baseball, Archery, Bocce, Motorcycling, Wrestling, Orienteering, Surf Lifesaving and Rugby Union.

2018

Of the 64 National Sporting Organisation reviewed women accounted for 37.2% of board positions, with 4 entities failing to have a female on their board. Gender diversity in this sector has been improving relatively quickly particularly in recent years. 2018 saw this progress slow with a 2.8% increase.
