Research and Development Corporations

Corporations for the purposes of rural research and development, a mixture of industry funded corporations with government support and statutory corporations. There are 15 R&D corporations.

2020

Despite being up by 10% on 2016, the R&D Corporations still only have 32.8% of women on their boards. Given the matching government contribution to these bodies, this remains too low. The following R&D corporations have fewer than 30% women: Sugar Research Australia, Australian Meat Processor Corporation, Australian Pork Limited, Forest and Wood Products Australia, AgriFutures Australia (formerly RIRDC), Australian Wool Innovation Limited.

2018

Of the 15 Research and Development Corporations reviewed only 3 entities had 40% or more board positions held by women. Board gender diversity is poor in this sector and only slowly improving, with 2018 data indicating a slight increase of 8%. It is pleasing to note all had at least one female on their board and women held 30% of board positions.
