The second Asian IDP will offer a unique opportunity where
its second module will take place in Sydney in May 2019, instead of Fontainebleau, France, as has been the case for the past five years. Modules one and three will be held at the INSEAD Singapore campus.
Claire Braund, Executive Director of Women on Boards, said she was very pleased that the partnership with ICGC had produced such tangible results for Australia’s current and future board members.
“
We partnered with INSEAD in 2017 in order to support women as they translate their professional skills and experience into non- executive director and other board-level roles,” Ms Braund said.
“
It has been a welcome and productive partnership for WOB and INSEAD’s commitment to an Australian session in the IDP is a further sign that boards are looking to understand complex governance issues at a global level.”
“
To date, we have seen an encouraging number of women from WOB in Australia enrol in the IDP and higher numbers from our sister company in the UK. We expect this to rise in 2019 with the welcome news that part of the nine-day programme will be held in Sydney.”
Ms Braund said that
WOB members will have a taste of what they might learn on the IDP when global governance guru, Prof. Ludo Van der Heyden, visits Australia at the end of October to deliver a series of presentations and hold a series of Masterclasses on leadership and governance.
Professor Ludo Van der Heyden, Founding Director of the INSEAD Corporate Governance Centre, said he was equally excited to launch the second edition of Asian IDP with module 2 to be held in Sydney and believed that this will further strengthen the position of INSEAD as the Business School for the World.
"
In the global world one needs to be local - hence the need for us to be present in the key governance markets in Asia such as Singapore and Australia. With the support from our strategic partner, Women on Boards, we are delighted to bring our flagship IDP closer to Australia to meet accelerating demand for corporate governance programme which develops effective directors for the global business scene,” said Professor Van der Heyden.
Prof. Van der Heyden will be speaking at two Women on Boards events in
Sydney (30 October) and
Melbourne (31 October) on the topic of ‘Effective Leadership in the Boardroom’ followed by a panel discussion.
These events are being hosted by Clayton Utz and open for registration at

About the International Directors Programme
The IDP seeks to develop more effective directors for the increasingly-complex governance challenges presented by dynamic global markets. It is designed to take directors to the next level by going beyond compliance and focusing on excellence in board practice. Upon completion of the programme, participants may apply for the INSEAD Certificate in Corporate Governance, the first truly international qualification for board members.
Each cohort comprises participants from a mix of countries across the world, representing the settings of today’s global boards. Since its launch in 2011, some 900 directors from more than 67 countries have completed this world-class programme from INSEAD.
Women on Boards is proud to partner with INSEAD to bring this programme to Australia. Any inquiries please visit the website:
