WOB Supports Basketball Australia

9/04/2020

Over the past 12 years WOB has built an impressive bank of highly accomplished and experienced members, making it ideally placed to help organisations build boards and governance committees.  Basketball Australia is a great example of how we do this.

WOB Chair, Ruth Medd has chaired Basketball Australia's Nominations Committee since 2014. During her tenure an impressive list of WOB members have served on this committee.

Currently WOB members Janet Torney and Sheena Wilson serve on the Nominations Committee, with Anne Lenagan having served for many years previously. The committee also includes two representatives nominated by state basketball associations.

Recruitment for this opportunity was all done via the WOB Jobs board.  Take a look.

I have always been judicious about Board and any other roles I look at. When I saw the Basketball Australia Nominations Committee Member role posted on the WOB site, I knew instinctively this was one to apply for. An opportunity to use my Board Nominations Committee experience; strategic HR background; and genuine enthusiasm for Basketball and other sports. WOB’s prolific encouragement of its members to look at all sort of different sports boards alongside other sectors, is refreshing. And important in terms of ensuring gender equity in this arena”.
