WOB Members secure four key board roles

22/02/2021

In the space of two days last week Women on Boards received news of four key appointments to significant board roles. Our congratulations to....

Lucy Partridge and Rhyll Gardner

Appointed to the board of Secure Growth Property Funds, a new company that source and applies “hands on” strategic management to high growth property assets across Australia.

SGPF Co-founder and director, Paul Brady, who asked WOB for support in the search for independent NEDS, dropped Ruth and Claire this note:

I just wanted to reach out and thank you both for your work and the wonderful candidates we were able to speak with in recruiting our two NED roles. After much zoom interviewing and deliberating we have decided to appoint Lucy Partridge and Rhyll Gardner. Two fabulous people from your organisation.  Both ladies have informally agreed to the roles, and we are in the process of formally confirming the appointments. We are very delighted with everything about WOB.

Jenny Selway

Appointed to the board of AgriBio, Centre for Agribioscience, a A$288 million public private partnership between the Government of Victoria,  La Trobe University  and the Plenary Group.  Jenny is new member with WOB and completed the CV Masterclass late last year, which gave her added confidence in her pitch for the role. Her observations on the process are:

  1. The process of creating a board CV and thinking about transferable skills/ UVP is invaluable itself.
  2. It is critical to do research before an interview.
  3. WOB has been so supportive and instrumental in helping me land this role.
  4. Look for opportunities to formally recognise skills on your CV (eg Chartered / fellowship), networking and upskilling.

Margie Haseltine

…and the last news we heard was that Margaret (Margie) Haseltine will step up to Chair Bapcor (ASX: BAP) after serving nearly five years as a Non-Executive Director on the company. Bapcor is Asia Pacific’s leading provider of vehicle parts, accessories, equipment, service and solutions. How Margie was first appointed to Bapcor is also a good story, with WOB able to refer her to the Nominations Committee after a lengthy professional search process.

Congratulations to all four women and any others who have recently achieved board roles. Please remember to drop us a note if you succeed in being appointed to a board or committee – or if you need any support or assistance along the way.
