WOB ACT representative, Dr Kath Hall, hosted WOBMeet Canberra on 21 March with cybersecurity experts Jamie Norton from McGrathNicol and Gill Savage - Senior Fellow with Australian Strategic Policy Institute with extensive experience in national security.
The panel discussed boards’ obligations around cybersecurity and discussed how to ask the right questions to govern effectively.

Kath said the event was a great opportunity for WOB members - and newcomers - to connect with women from different backgrounds. “When I moved to Adelaide for 12 months last year, I knew I had to get out and meet some great professional women to connect with. So I attended my first Women on Boards event two weeks after arriving and loved every minute of it. I met women from different sectors, backgrounds and experiences - many like me who were not on a board and were keen to learn more.
“Now, in 2023, I am the ACT representative for WOB, charged with getting events and chats back up and running for the benefit of Canberra women.”
In Far North Queensland, Claire and Ruth teamed up to meet WOB members in Cairns and Mission Beach.
In Cairns the WOBMeet event was hosted by BDO. “It was a pleasure to welcome those who had never attended a WOB event before and lovely to see some long-term and loyal supporters again,” said Claire.
Tara Diversi gave an engaging presentation which sparked an interesting discussion around board-related topics. “Certainly much food for thought and a great example of how to renovate an industry association,” added Claire.
In Mission Beach CPA accountant at Cosca, Caitlin Bonassi, walked WOB through the challenges and opportunities presented by her first major board role. Catlin also brought along her partner Garrick Ruddell from Valley View Pawpaws and her colleagues from Cosca.
