Those who attended learnt much from the seven presenters / mentors about the needs requirements and challenges of the Start-Up and ESIC sectors, funding and capital raising, IP and patents, the range of business models being used and opportunities for independent board members. It was also a very useful networking arena for those who need to access, and those who can offer, services as an advisory board member, a connector or actual business products / IP.
The good news is that two events are planned for Q1 2018 in Sydney and Melbourne. Those of you not yet registered with the WOB Marketplace for Innovation please ensure you do this so we can keep in touch with you about dates for these events.

More broadly,
what is the current landscape like for female entrepreneurs and investors?
WOB is involved with two organisations that primarily assist women. These are:
- Heads Over Heels - began in Sydney and focusses on early stage companies with female CEOs who need in kind assistance such as services and introductions; and perhaps capital.
- Scale Investors - a Melbourne based Scale group of angel investors into early stage companies with females in the leadership group.
There are other good initiatives around. If you are connected with any that focus specifically on female entrepreneurs and investors, then
drop me a line.
Yours from sunny Cairns and Mission Beach - land of the chocolate pods! More on that next week.
Regards
Ruth
