Looking for a board role? Don't rule out New Zealand

28/01/2023

Are you a WOB member living in New Zealand, or an Australian-based member looking for a board role over the ditch?

New Zealand-based board opportunities feature regularly on the WOB Vacancy Board - recognition that WOB has a growing number of members in NZ and also that NZ boards are often open to non-NZ residents.

WOB’s WA representative - NZ-born Kylah Morrison - recently met some NZ members including Valerie Linton, Jacqui Bensemann and Jane Davel  at a WOBMeet breakfast in Auckland while visiting the North Island.

“The conversation was so dynamic and engaging. It was great to connect with another cohort of successful women in leadership roles across diverse sectors, at various points in their board careers,” said Kylah.

The women talked about transitioning to a portfolio board career, and balancing exec roles with board roles.

“We also talked about the nuances of diversity focus for boards in NZ vs Australia. It was agreed that gender diversity in NZ is far more progressed, and is therefore driving a more effective, broader focus on diversity.”

Now back in Perth, Kylah said she is looking forward to staying in touch with the NZ members. “I’m also looking forward to supporting the NZ cohort of WOB to grow now that in-person catch ups are becoming more regular again.”

To find New Zealand board roles, go to WOB’s Vacancy Board and filter by ‘New Zealand’.
