Michele Adair and Dr Katherine Woodthorpe AO, two long-time friends and members of Women on Boards, have been recently recognised for their outstanding contribution in the areas of housing affordability and science respectively.

Michele Adair, CEO of the Housing Trust and Chair of the Community Housing Industry Association, won the 2021 Outstanding Business Leader of the Year at the Illawarra Business Awards, for her work in social and afforable housing.

In a memorable and powerful acceptance speech on the night of the awards, Michele spoke about her vision of decent home being a human right for everyone - a home that is "safe, home and affordable".

It is a personal story that she shares to highlight the plight of thousands of Australians who go homeless or stay in violent and abusive relationships because they have nowhere to go.
