Join Women on Boards for the Clayton Utz Director Series lunch in Melbourne. This lunch is an excellent opportunity to hear from Michelle McLean, Deputy Chair, Country Fire Authority (CFA) about her challenges and learning from her board journey, her tips for aspiring directors and opportunities as well as other current topical issues in her sector.

Guest Speaker: Michelle McLean 

Michelle is an experienced non-executive board director and business advisor. She is the Deputy Chairman of the Country Fire Authority (CFA) a volunteer and community based fire and emergency services organisation. She also chairs the CFA Finance, Risk and Audit committee.

From 1995 to 2018 Michelle was an executive/partner of Cornwall Stodart (Lawyers). 

Throughout this period, Michelle also spent several years on various boards and committees including:

  • Mercy Health Foundation, a Catholic organisation providing compassionate health care to the community,
  • Overnewton Anglican Community College, an independent co-educational day school for over 2000 students, Acom International, an importer and wholesaler of lifestyle products, and,
  • VECCI (Victorian Chamber of Commerce and Industry), the peak body for business in Victoria, with over 15,000 members.

Michelle has comprehensive capability in the areas of risk management, strategic planning and management, human resource management, finance, audit and corporate governance. With highly developed people and management skills and significant experience managing board and board sub-committees, Michelle has a strong ability in focusing and developing stake holder relationships within a commercial framework.
