Many facilitators just 'go through the motions' whereas Claire was energetic, direct and positive. She was also very generous with her knowledge. Women on Boards is not only a professional organisation, but one that also represents excellent value for money in terms of both membership and workshop fees.”

"A wealth of valuable information that is not written anywhere - dynamic, interactive and supportive. I now have clear steps to take to commence my journey."

FINANCE ESSENTIALS for the boardroom

What you always wanted to know but were afraid to ask (financially speaking)

2.5 hour workshop + 1 hour complimentary follow up webinar (workshop held virtually and face-to-face in capital cities)

If you want to truly understand the business you oversee, you need to speak the language of financial statements. You don't need to be a numbers expert or to be deeply familiar with accounting standards and terminology but you do need to have a basic understanding of key elements of a Balance Sheet and Profit & Loss / Income & Expenditure Statement, along with the confidence to ask questions on areas which are not clear or give you cause for concern.

This workshop is suited to those who have a basic grasp of financial concepts as well as the more financially sophisticated who need a refresher. It is delivered by Mike Hill, Forensic Partner at McGrathNicol, and a senior female colleague at McGrathNicol corporate offices around Australia. Fully catered with a follow-up session. Outstanding value at $199 for full members.

Testimonials:

"Well worth it! I thoroughly enjoyed the financial literacy workshop. Mike and Anne-Maree did a great job compressing key concepts into an easy-to-digest format. Ignited my interest! Will definitely recommend WOB and your professional development opportunities to my network. Thanks again."

"I wanted to let you know that this course was excellent. Mike Hill and Janine Thompson were second to none in their delivery. They provided a lot of information and I especially enjoyed the “war stories” as these were very insightful."

"Content was outstanding and very informative. This was exactly the session I have been looking for. I now have a better understanding of the structure and meaning of financial statements, terminology and key warning signs."

BUILD YOUR BOARD CV

A masterclass in positioning your CV for the boardroom

One 2.5 hour virtual masterclass, homework and then a 1 hour virtual follow-up session to review progress. (+  option for final review with WOB Director)

Getting your Board CV right can be difficult and time-consuming, requiring considerable thought and focus. In fact, many people are still caught in the mindset of creating a Board CV that looks like a traditional resume for a corporate role instead of one that signals they are ready for the boardroom.

The key purpose of a Board CV is to get you noticed by those involved in the selection process and highlight what value you will bring to the board or committee.

Learning outcomes from this masterclass:

  • A clearer understanding of your board related competencies and the value you will bring to a board.
  • Greater awareness of how to express your technical and transferable skills and experience.
  • Clarity on the structure, format, and language of a CV.
  • Tips on what boards are looking for and how to reflect these in your CV and in an interview.
  • A Board CV that you can either continue to refine or take to someone to polish.
