The workshop content has been developed over many years working to help hundreds of women take action to address their career challenges and aspirations. The topics covered include:
- Managing your career and how to include a NED or trustee position
- About directorship; the role, duties and legal responsibilities of directors
- Directorship opportunities; market intelligence on board roles and how to apply
- Doing yourself justice when applying for board roles.
The workshop is practical, strategic and interactive. Participants are engaged and supported by the Women on Boards team and encouraged to make use of the wider WOB "network of influence".

Claire Braund: Executive Director, Women on Boards Australia, Non Executive Director, WOB Pty Ltd, Vice Chair, Central Coast Conservatorium
is a former journalist and public relations manager who uses her high level advocacy skills to lead Women on Boards in Australia. A highly respected speaker on gender balance and related business issues, Claire an informed and entertaining presenter, a renowned networker and skilled at building relationships for common benefit. She became a Churchill Fellow in 2011 for her research into the effect of gender quotas on public listed company boards in Norway, the UK and France which led to the establishment of Women on Boards in the UK in 2012. Claire is a director of the Central Coast Conservatorium of Music, a past director of The Women's Club and the Foundation for Australian Agricultural Women and a graduate of the Benevolent Society’s Sydney Social Leadership Program.
Ruth Medd: Chair, WOB Pty Ltd, Women on Boards Australia, Health & Sciences Institute Pty Ltd and Australian Chocolate; Trustee, NSW Historic Houses Trust; Board Member, National Foundation for Australian Women
is a Certified Practising Accountant and former IT professional who has been pursuing a career as a Non-Executive-Director since 2000. She was the founding chair of Women on Boards and in this capacity has been instrumental in the growth of the business and supported many thousands of women to become board members. She maintains wide interests outside of WOB, including in the start-up sector and angel investing as well as her other board and committee roles. Ruth was previously the chair of Australian Ethical Superannuation, a member of the NSW Casino Control Authority and a director of the Infants Home at Ashfield. Prior executive roles include executive director of the Australian Association of National Advertisers and senior positions with Telstra, the Australian Broadcasting Tribunal and the Federal Government.
