Give your board & committee aspirations a kick start

Whether you are starting out, stuck in a rut or seeking new board opportunities, this workshop is guaranteed to get you moving. How do we know? Years of WOB members telling us it was our Getting Started program that did, in fact, get them started!

"Practical, specific, actionable guidance on getting my first board role. I now have the basic knowledge to start applying for board roles. Also fantastic to meet several like-minded women on the course - what a wonderful network!" - GS Workshop Participant

Held across two interactive online sessions (75 minutes each) this workshop brings real clarity around why adding board work to your portfolio of activities can enrich your employment opportunities, enable you to maximise your significant skills, and experience and support you to realise personal goals.

We use a combination of live virtual sessions and tools and resources you access in your own time via our online training platform to keep you engaged and focussed on the outcome of securing your first or additional board or committee role. Areas covered include:

  • The roles and requirements of a good board member.
  • Where to focus your education and PD efforts.
  • How a director adds real value to a board.
  • Director assessment and sectors you can target.
  • What are boards looking for and what you can expect.
  • Case studies on directors duties and lessons learned.
  • Personal stories on how I achieved a board role.
  • Your personal action plan.

The workshop is practical, strategic and interactive. Participants are engaged and supported by the WOB team and encouraged to connect with each other during the program and beyond.

It is particularly suited to those who are:

  • At any stage of their career and contemplating 'what next?'
  • Wondering how their skills and experience would serve a board or committee?
  • Seeking guidance on how to get started or where to look for roles.
  • Unsure of how to articulate their value to a board or committee.
  • Looking for a strategic pathway to the boardroom.
