A workshop designed for anyone considering their first board role or seeking to add a new NED role to their portfolio - delivered as two 1.5 hour lunctime webinars.

If you miss one session, or even if you cannot make either session, then don't worry. Just register anyway and we will send you a recording of the webinars for you to listen to at your leisure.

Many of us are convinced that we have the skills and wisdom to contribute to the boardroom, but don't know enough about the role or the board recruitment process to position ourselves to get there.  Others are intrigued by the possibility of having a real impact on society through directorship, but need convincing that their experience is transferable to the boardroom, along with some insights into how to access the roles.  If either of these sounds like you, you will enjoy this workshop and leave with a renewed commitment to finding a board role.

The workshop content has been developed over many years working to help hundreds of women take action to address their career challenges and aspirations.  The topics covered include:

  • Managing your career and how to include a NED or trustee position
  • About directorship; the role, duties and legal responsibilities of directors
  • Directorship opportunities; market intelligence on board roles and how to apply
  • Doing yourself justice when applying for board roles.

The workshop is practical, strategic and interactive.  Participants are engaged and supported by the Women on Boards team and encouraged to make use of the wider WOB "network of influence".

Suited to people:

  • Looking at long-term career options
  • Thinking about or already on a board
  • Seeking strategic and practical advice
  • Looking for an influential support network

Dates (Recordings for both sessions are also available ):

Session 2 -   20th April 2018 12:00 noon - 1:30pm

NOTE: Both sessions are recorded should you miss them - all participants are sent a link to the webinar recording.

SPEAKER

Fiona Hathorn, Managing Director, WOB  UK

Fiona is the Managing Director of Women on Boards UK and a Trustee of the charity Fight for Sight. She is a former investment director for Old Mutual Asset Management and Hill Samuel Asset Management, running the Global Equities and Emerging Markets Desks respectively.  In the past Fiona has advised the board of Thai Euro Fund and been the Director responsible for Pension Fund asset allocation for Old Mutual Asset Management's Employee Pension Fund.

WOB UK's webinar helped me enormously. It made me think about the boards I might want to join, my board value add, how to write a NED CV (to ensure that my board persona came across), and articulate the role of the board succinctly. Interestingly I had just been asked at short notice for an interview to pitch for a position within an international company. I had little time to really prepare but listening to others elevator pitches on the webinar was all I needed to ensure I presented myself at my best. Thank you WOB! - Carolina Arriagada Peters Director, Cities & Collaboration Ltd.
