Could you use some one-on-one help with your Board CV?

The key purpose of a Board CV is to get you onto the long-list, and ultimately to an interview. It is a tool to position your capability and credibility – it tells those involved in the selection process what value you will bring to their board or committee.

Developing a good Board CV requires considerable thought and focus and an understanding of what experience and skills are valued in the boardroom.  This half-day masterclass will cover:

  • The structure, length and language of a Board CV
  • Some Do’s and Dont's
  • How to demonstrate you can operate at director level
  • Understanding your board capabilities and points of difference
  • Applying the concepts to write your new capability-based Board CV
  • Cover letters and your LinkedIn profile

By the end of the workshop you will have a draft of the key sections of your Board CV ready to tune and finalise. The workshop price includes follow-up support:- every attendee will be encouraged to complete their Board CV and then prompted for a 30-minute phone review to explore what fits best for you. Whether you are targeting listed company roles, the public sector or a competitive charity sector board, we aim to ensure that you end up with a document that increases your chances of success.

Follow-up support: The price includes a 30-minute follow up phone-call with Alison, once you have prepared your "final draft".
What to bring
: Current CV and/or My Profile from Women on Boards website
Pre-requisites: If you are completely new to the boardroom, we recommend that you attend our Getting Started workshop before you attend this Masterclass.

Comments from past attendees:

"An excellent workshop, well paced and packed with useful tips and advice. Highly recommended."  London, May 2014

“Thank you (and Alison) for all your help. My completely re-written CV following the masterclass last July was a critical factor in my success I know.” February 2017

“Just a short note to thank Rowena and Alison for the fantastic Board CV seminar yesterday. It was useful, fast paced, topical & insightful information delivered with good humour & gravitas. I enjoyed it immensely because it was a very long time ago when I was in a room with so many obviously intelligent, multi-lingual & aspirational women. I'm delighted I decided to join WOB a & look forward to being an active member, thanks again.” December 15

"The conundrum when plumping for 'self-help' counsel is whether it will be worth the time and money. As always with Women on Boards, it was. The size of the group (15) was small enough to be personal but large enough to provide variety. The exercises were thoughtful but pragmatic, with the focus clearly on a usable, practical outcome – a Board-ready CV.  In my case, the guidance was put directly to work within a few days. Alison astutely gauged my needs and her follow-up counsel hit the mark precisely."

"Thank you WoB for all you do. I had been struggling for a year to draft a NED CV. After meeting WOB UK founders Fiona & Rowena I registered and attended the Board CV Masterclass. The workshop allowed me to better understand the value I add into boardroom settings and the one-on-one help from Alison Thorne enabled me finalise my NED CV in the space of 3 weeks. Now I am ready to apply for NED positions – greatly appreciated." August 2016
