What does WOB do?
Women on Boards is an independent and action-oriented social enterprise with a proud history of supporting women to leverage their professional skills and experience into non-executive director and other board level roles. WOB exists to help women make the right connections and career choices to get to board level within their own company or to take on a non-executive board role. We are removing the barriers to entry to the boardroom and building the pipeline of board-ready women.

Who are your members?
The WOB network is now 18,000 strong across the UK. Our member profile breaks down as follows:
- 60% are director level or above, with 30% C-suite
- 45% of our members are based outside London
- 35% work within the financial, legal and professional services sectors
How many WOB members have succeeded in finding a board position?
We encourage members of the network who have been appointed to a new board position to tell us about their success - and we know of 700. You can find a running log on our On Board page as well as more detailed Success Stories in the Resource Centre. If you have been appointed to a role - whether sourced via our vacancy board or not - please do drop us an email and we would be delighted to list your appointment.
What makes WOB unique?
The unique value of being part of the WOB network is the ongoing personal advice that WOB provides to subscribers. This includes individual help with your board strategy, board profile and interview preparation and personal introductions to experienced directors who can provide advice and encouragement in specific interview situations. So coming to a workshop or event is not a one-off experience with WOB. This personal support, coupled with the rich collection of information in the WOB Resource Centre and on our Vacancy Board and the commitment of the WOB team to your success, are what makes WOB unique.

Can I post a vacancy on your website? How much does it cost?
Anyone can post a non-executive board position (including charity trustee and school governor roles) to our website and we have posted over 8,500 in the last four years. This is a free service; the vacancy board is designed to increase the transparency of the board recruitment process across all sectors. We encourage you to post your own roles using our simple "How To" guide. For further information, please click here.
Why can't I see full details of the roles listed on your site?
Full details of the board positions listed on our website are only available to WOB subscribers (paid members). If you sign up as an unpaid member we will alert you each week to the number of new and current roles and, in most cases, you should be able to find details of these roles elsewhere in the public domain, such as on the Public Appointments website, Charity Jobs and Good Moves (Scotland).

I've forgotten my user name/password
To be reminded of your username or password, use the Forgotten Password/Username links on the Login tab. PLEASE NOTE - you must use your username to login not your email address. You will find your username on the most recent weekly vacancy email near the top. If all else fails, contact us and we will sort it out for you.
How do I get my board profile reviewed?
If you would like to request a review of your WOB profile or Board CV, please email us here. NOTE that we don't review executive CVs, so the time to get in touch is once you have a first draft of a Board CV - follow the advice in our article Writing a Board Ready CV.
Why can't I just use my LinkedIn Profile?
The WOB Profile is specifically designed to help you think through your board aspirations. It focuses on bringing out the value you will add to a board as a non-executive director or trustee. For this reason it is likely to be different from your LinkedIn profile - unless you are a full-time portfolio NED. We do recommend that everyone who is looking for a non-executive or executive role has a LinkedIn profile, but we do not provide advice on how to complete them.
I've got an interview for a board role, how should I prepare?
The first thing to do is to read the article in our Resource Centre "Preparing for a Board Interview: 10 tips". If you are a WOB subscriber, you can also contact us for an introduction to an experienced director in a similar role. We can't guarantee we will know someone, but as the network grows we now have members across most sectors who are willing to help.
I am a new Director. Can you recommend any training?
Our Resource Centre, Getting Board Ready section lists a selection of courses for directors. If you are a WOB subscriber, you can take advantage of discounts on several courses run by the Financial Times Non Executive Director Club. In addition, WOB Subscribers wishing to join the Institute of Directors are entitled to a full waiver of the joining fee (currently ~£220).
Do you offer mentoring of any kind?
My Mentor is an extension of WOB's professional development programmes. Subscribers can access experienced women and men to guide and support them to address specific career challenges and/or develop a more structured approach to their professional career or board strategy. As a small team, we do not have the capacity to contribute to individual pieces of work, however we strongly encourage you to take a look at the research available in our Resource Centre.
WOB subscription - pricing and process
I work for a WOB corporate subscriber. How do I get full subscriber access to the website?
Female staff of our corporate and foundation sponsors can register on the WOB website and will become Corporate Members with full subscriber access. Please register via the JOIN link; select the free membership option and ensure you register using your company email address.
Please note that some organisations have security protocols that block access to external sites including ours; if you are having trouble accessing our website from a work PC, please use a mobile device or your home computer - as long as you register with your corporate email we will recognise you.
How does Corporate membership work?
Our basic corporate offering has two elements:
1. One or more half-day, in-house workshops for up to 40 people
2. Full membership of the WOB network for all female employees

Do you offer student discounts?
We offer a discounted rate for students to attend our Boardroom Conversations, however we do not offer student discounts for subscription or workshops, as board roles can realistically only be targeted by people with some depth of skill and experience.
