Paid Parental Leave

Paid Parental Leave

  1. A minimum of 26 weeks PPL to be reached incrementally over three years.
  2. Four weeks of PPL be set aside for partner leave on a use it or lose it basis. Exclusions for single parents.
  3. Superannuation is paid on Government PPL entitlement.
  4. As PPL is an employee entitlement NOT a welfare payment it should be administered by employers through normal workplace channels.
  • In taking this approach, WOB is seeking to ensure that parents who do NOT have access to employer provided PPL are treated with more equity than is currently the case, and benefit from the rise to 26 weeks and other arrangements proposed.  Currently this large group is treated with less equity than those who work for large employers who pay PPL. It is not a case of robbing Peter to pay Paul as some may argue, but sharing existing resources for the benefit of all parents.
