WOB has always maintained that there is a 'board for everyone' and many women are surprised to hear how many boards are open to younger people. Some boards even have policies requiring a certain percentage to be under 30 or 40 - it all depends on their focus and the members / stakeholders the organisation is serving.
You are invited to join us at in Brisbane on 19 March to hear more. You will also see the value of the WOB wider network in terms of your leadership aspirations and mentoring opportunities. It is not for nothing that we call WOB 'the league of extraordinary women'
Guest Speaker: Amber Daines
Amber is a former print and TV journalist turned PR powerhouse, author, speaker, media trainer and business leader who consults to businesses of all shapes and sizes across Australia.
Amber's love affair with the media began as a print journalist in Sydney in the 1990s and continued as she worked as a general business reporter for newspapers and e-magazine in Hong Kong, London and Paris. Returning to Australia in 2002, she worked in a number of respected and award-winning PR agencies, as well as in-house for a handful of high profile arts entities and government bodies.
Amber launched her own communication consultancy in 2007 with just two small business clients, a beauty salon start-up and a high-profile political lobbying firm. She now works with a wide range of clients in the big and small business arenas and focuses on delivering high-level media training, presentation skills workshops, crisis PR programs, and social media advice that get results.
An avid writer, she has written two self-published business books, contributed chapters to several others and regularly writes freelance features and blog pieces about her communications industry.
Amber was appointed a Non Executive Board Member to the International Football and Tennis School on the NSW Central Coast in February 2018. She also serves on the board of Women for Election Australia, appointed to assist WFEA in its mission to encourage, support and empower more females to roles in public office and embracing a career in Australian politics.
We would love to see long-term WOB members bringing their daughters, colleagues and guests to what promises to be a great night in!
